Alternative solutions to diluted p-spin models and XORSAT problems

چکیده
We derive analytical solutions for p-spin models with finite connectivity at zero temperature. These models are the statistical mechanics equivalent of p-XORSAT problems in theoretical computer science. We give a full characterization of the phase diagram: location of the phase transitions (static and dynamic), together with a description of the clustering phenomenon taking place in configurational space. We use two alternative methods: the cavity approach and a rigorous derivation.

Theoretical analysis of optimization problems - Some properties of random k-SAT and k-XORSAT
This thesis is divided in two parts. The first presents an overview of known results in statistical mechanics of disordered systems and its approach to random combinatorial optimization problems. The second part is a discussion of two original results. The first result concerns DPLL heuristics for random k-XORSAT, which is equivalent to the diluted Ising p-spin model. It is well known that DPLL...
متن کاملA simple one dimensional glassy Kac model
We define a new family of random spin models with one-dimensional structure, finite-range multi-spin interactions, and bounded average degree (number of interactions in which each spin participates). Unfrustrated ground states can be described as solutions of a sparse, band diagonal linear system, thus allowing for efficient numerical analysis. In the limit of infinite interaction range, we rec...
متن کاملThe set of solutions of random XORSAT formulae
The XOR-satisfiability (XORSAT) problem requires finding an assignment of n Boolean variables that satisfym exclusive OR (XOR) clauses, whereby each clause constrains a subset of the variables. We consider random XORSAT instances, drawn uniformly at random from the ensemble of formulae containing n variables and m clauses of size k. This model presents several structural similarities to other e...
متن کاملExact solutions for diluted spin glasses and optimization problems
We study the low temperature properties of p-spin glass models with finite connectivity and of some optimization problems. Using a one-step functional replica symmetry breaking ansatz we can solve exactly the saddle-point equations for graphs with uniform connectivity. The resulting ground state energy is in perfect agreement with numerical simulations. For fluctuating connectivity graphs, the ...
متن کاملInside the clustering window for random linear equations
We study a random system of cn linear equations over n variables in GF(2), where each equation contains exactly r variables; this is equivalent to r-XORSAT. Previous work has established a clustering threshold, cr for this model: if c = c ∗ r − ǫ for any constant ǫ > 0 then with high probability all solutions form a well-connected cluster; whereas if c = cr + ǫ, then with high probability the s...
